Milan, Italy

It was our first time in staying in Milano.  Kay had passed through Milano Centrale on the way to Lake Como 10 years ago while studying abroad in Florence.  Milan is a high fashion, fast-paced metropolis.  Very different from other Italian cities we have visited.  It’s the city of the future, where people really care about what they are wearing, creativity is big business and work drinks are an art form.

There are many different neighborhoods – some of our favorites being Porta Nuova/ Isola and Brera.  We enjoyed walking the streets and exploring this Northern Italian city, but wouldn’t make a special trip back unless we had to pass through or had work there.  If you find yourself in Milano, be sure to check out these spots and you will be sure to have a lovely time ! Chexbres, Switzerland

Napa, Tuscany, Bordeaux, Mendoza, Willamette Valley are all the popular places to go wine tasting, so why isn’t Lavaux region on that list?  The views itself are incredible and the wine was up to par to the top producing wine regions around the world.  Lavaux consists of 830 hectares of terraced vineyards that stretch for about 30 km along the south-facing shores of Lake Geneva.  Since July 2007, the region is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.  And since 2016, the vineyards of Lavaux are not treated with synthetic pesticides any more.  Clean wine…clean drinking! The main wine grape variety grown here is the Chasselas.

Florence, Italy

Florence | Firenze | The Best

We can officially say both of us have been to Florence, but separate times.  K was able to study abroad in this beautiful city during her junior year at UCSB.  Now T got to experience it for herself.  All those years k talked about how much she loved this city and T now knows why.  And for our readers – here is why:

London….We’re Back!!

Cheerio London! It took us only a year to get back and this time we were able to see some neighborhoods and sites we didn’t get to explore last time.  We did revisit a couple favorite spots – Borough Market + Big Ben!  (Standard Tourist Photo Op)  The Borough Market wasn’t in full swing last year since we went between Christmas & New Years.  This time we got the real taste of it- Friday lunch hour mayhem.  And boy did we have fun!  Speaking of boys, there were a lot of them on their lunch hour  grabbing a bit to eat with their mates.  Continue reading “London….We’re Back!!”

Ireland: Sleep, Eat, and Play

The Dean Hotel

We stayed at the Dean Hotel, a boutique hotel located in City Centre.  Its a trendy, fun and comfortable establishment that served every purpose – sleep. eat. and entertainment.  To set the scene – the lobby had a DJ set up along with a bar and lounge area.  It didn’t stop there, the rooftop had a fabulous bar, restaurant and lounge area.  We stayed in the SupeRoom, which was the perfect amount of space for us.   Continue reading “Ireland: Sleep, Eat, and Play”
